What can SMP treat?
Balding
SMP can be used to restore a natural-looking crown and hairline. This is created by adding microdots of ink into the scalp, giving the illusion of real hair follicles. This treatment is suitable for both men and women who suffer with pattern-baldness, also known as pattern hair loss.
Density
A density treatment is suitable for both men and women. It can be applied on the scalp to thinning hair and bald patches making it look fuller and thicker. The hair can be kept long or shaven and we will place pigment in-between the hair follicles which will make it appear fuller and less receded.
Alopecia
The perfect solution for the many forms, it can be disguised by placing pigment into the scalp where hair loss has taken place, giving the appearance of a full shaved head of hair. Also known as a hair tattoo or cosmetic tattoo, this non-intrusive treatment covers all forms of alopecia.
Scarring

How Long Do Hair Tattoos Last?
The lifespan of a hair tattoo can range anywhere from two to five years, and depends on factors such as the aftercare, the type of ink used and direct exposure to sunlight. You may require a touch-up over time as the skin naturally exfoliates itself and may fade slightly. Having a touch-up will keep your SMP looking fresh and looking like new
Is Scalp Micropigmentation Permanent?
Scalp Micropigmentation is a permanent hair loss solution but does require touch-ups every few years to keep it looking fresh. The treatment involves placing micro dots of pigment into the scalp to replicate the look of natural hair follicles. Permanent cosmetic pigments are used for SMP.
Are Hair Tattoos Painful?
The procedure is typically pain-free and doesn’t hurt like a traditional tattoo, although, it can be slightly uncomfortable near the hairline. A traditional tattoo goes through 7 layers of skin whilst hair tattoos only go down 2 layers (dermis), which makes it less painful.
Is Scalp Micropigmentation Safe?
Yes, Scalp Micropigmentation is totally safe and risk-free. The pigment is non-toxic and safe to use, so you should not have any negative side effects and the procedure should not be too uncomfortable or painful. We have never seen an adverse reaction on a client’s scalp due to having Scalp Micropigmentation.
How long does Scalp Micropigmentation take?
Scalp Micropigmentation is usually carried out over 3 sessions and a full session for a Norwood 7 client usually takes 4-9 hours and depends on the size of the area. There is 2 weeks between sessions 1 and 2, with a 3rd session taking place 3 weeks later.
